Viet Nam's electronic visa (or e-visa, labeled as EV) shall be applied for citizens of all countries and territories
On August 14, 2023, the Government of Viet Nam issued Resolution No. 127/NQ-CP on the application of electronic visas for citizens of countries and territories; international checkpoints allowing foreigners to enter and exit by electronic visas. Accordingly, the Government granted issueing electronic visas to citizens of all countries and territories.
The duration of Viet Nam's electronic visa is lengthened, from maximum of 30 days with single entry, to maximum of 90 days with single or multiple entry(ies).
According to Article 2 of the Law amending and supplementing the Law on Entry and Exit of Viet Namese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Viet Nam, from August 15 /2023, the term of electronic visa (or e-visa, labeled as "EV") is lengthened, from maximum of 30 days with single entry, to maximum of 90 days with single or multiple entry(ies).
Duration of temporary residence for citizens of 13 countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas has been extended to 45 days.
On August 14, 2023, the Viet Nam Government issued Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP amending Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022 on visa exemption for citizens of several countries. Specifically, Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP amends Article 1 of Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022 as follows:
Visa requirements are exempted for citizens of the following countries: Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of France, Republic of Italy, Kingdom of Spain, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russian Federation, Japan, Republic of Korea, Kingdom of Denmark, Kingdom of Sweden, Kingdom of Norway, Republic of Finland and Republic of Belarus with a temporary residence duration of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, purpose of entry, provided that all entry conditions according to Vietnamese law are met.
Thus, compared to Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022, the temporary residence duration for citizens of the above countries will be increased from 15 days to 45 days.
Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP takes effect from August 15, 2023.
For receiving visa at the Embassy:
In case you want to apply for Visa at the Embassy, you must
have an immigration clearance (approval letter) of the
Immigration Department of Viet Nam. The following are the options to apply for
a Vietnamese approval letter:
1. Request inviter in Viet Nam (e.g., your organization,
relative in Vietnam) apply for the immigration clearance (approval
letter) at the Immigration Department of Viet Nam.
2. Apply for an approval letter through travel agencies
or tour companies that are affiliated with the Vietnamese Embassy and take
a visa at the Embassy.
After receiving the approval letter from Viet Nam
Immigration Department, you can submit for visa at the Embassy by yourself or
authorize other with the following documents:
- Original passport (at least 6-month validity from the
return date)
- Complete visa application form with 02 photos (form is
available at the Embassy)
- Copy of your original passport (only the personal detail
page)
- Copy of the approval letter (mandatory)
The Embassy processes visas and consular issues on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9h30-13:00 hrs and 14:30-17:00 hrs. Normal delivery is from 03 to 07 days, and express delivery is from 01 to 03 days (extra charge is applied). In other events, the applicants will be informed the visa collection time.
